Frequently Asked Questions

Tell me about cropping:

4 x 6 (traditional 35mm)

4 x 5

Most proofs will be displayed in 4 x 6 proportions. Any prints ordered in multiples of this size will contain the full frame without cropping.
Examples are 6 x 9 and 8 x 12, other sizes will be cropped along the long side.

Some proofs are displayed in 4 x 5 proportion. I'll do this when I feel it adds to the image. Prints from these proofs will be just as shown when ordered in multiples of this size. These photos can still be ordered in 4 x 6 proportions but will have area added along the long side.

5 x 7, 11 x 14 and other sizes that are not exact multiples of the proof dimensions will be cropped accordingly.

All cropping is hand done, not by an automated computer. I'm pretty good at this and will give you the best image, IMO, possible. If you have specific desires please contact me prior to ordering.

Why does it take you so long to get our proofs posted: Good things don't come quickly. Rather than just throw the photos up right out of the camera I spend time with each one trying to make sure that what you see in the proof will be representative of the final photos.

So does this mean that the online proof is as good as my photo is going to look? NO! The proofs recieve an initial image adjustment and quick cropping. When you place an order your photo will be reprocessed and cropped to give the best possible results.

What's this "Luster" stuff: Luster print finish is in between traditional glossy and matt. It provides good color fidelity and sharpness while offering some fingerprint resistance. If you would like glossy or matt let me know.

Can I do what I want with my prints?
(the legal stuff)
Of course you can display your prints in anyway you wish. You can use them for editorial purposes (The Chronical wants your photo).
What you can't do is make copies of them. In the simplest terms that is stealing.
